I’ve posted this simple recipe a few times on my Facebook page and I have had such a great response that I thought I should actually write-up a blog post on it.

My favorite thing about this recipe is that it is soooo filling! My kids LOVE when they hear the blender going! Hope you enjoy this as much as we do!

Monkey Smoothie (or Monkey Popsicle)

Ingredients:

  • 16 0z of coconut milk
  • 4 TB Almond/or some other nut butter
  • 2 teaspoons of raw honey
  • 3 TB of cocoa powder
  • 2 (frozen) bananas
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla
  • Optional add ins: ice, carob nibs, avocado, coconut butter, pastured egg yolk, coconut oil

Directions:

1. Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend. If using frozen bananas then you may not need any ice cubes. If you are using unfrozen bananas, then throw in 5-8 ice cubes.

2. Top with raw carob nibs and enjoy!!! Makes enough for 2-3 servings so you can enjoy the smoothie now and freeze the rest!

3. POPSICLES: pour into popsicle molds and freeze! Makes 7 popsicles!

I love this recipe! I make something similar with the coconut fat that rises to the top of a can of coconut milk mixed with chocolate with ripples of almond butter.

Very nice. I will have to try that.

BTW, these recipe pages really need a better “print” mode. We actually print and keep in a binder (I know; how quaint) many favorite recipes that we find online. But most of them are readily one-page printable; here, not so much…

    Thanks!

I know I know! This is on my list to add to the blog…I just need to figure out how to add a print this option!

I make this most days! Its been one of my favorite combos for a while now. I use goat or coconut kefir and sunbutter. I also add a scoop of collagen because it makes my hair look good. I wish i could convince my family to try it! Anything healthy is completely avoided by them!

Sounds relish! This doesn’t even taste healthy…it’s so good. Maybe give it a try and don’t tell them it’s healthy!

Totally doing this tomorrow morning! My kids will be so excited to have chocolate in the morning 😉

We put our leftover smoothies in popsicle molds, too – they’re a great afternoon snack!
