I love making my own sugar scrub. I, also, love making my life easier which is why I made these sugar scrub bars. All I have to do is grab a bar before getting in the bath or shower. No more opening up a mason jar and scooping out the scrub and letting water get into the scrub. Now I just take a bar and start lathering it over my body. It’s easy to hold and easy to make!
Sugar Scrub Bars
makes 8 large bars (can cut bars in half)
- 2 cups of white or Turbinado sugar (where to buy)
- 30 drops of essential oil (where to buy) – you pick what fragrance you want. Be careful with citrus oils during the summer months since it is photosensitive.
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar
- 1 cup of coconut oil (where to buy)
- 2 teaspoon of vanilla
- 2 tablespoons of honey
- silicone muffin mold
Directions:
- Mix the sugars up in a bowl.
- Melt the coconut oil over low heat. Don’t let it get too hot. If it does, set aside to cool before adding to sugars. You don’t want it to melt the sugar.
- Add the vanilla, essential oil, honey, and coconut oil.
- Scoop into your silicone muffin mold and pop in the freezer for 20-30 minutes.
- DONE! I keep mine in the fridge during the summer months when my house is warmer.

These look fantastic, Jackie! You mentioned cutting the bars in half…how much do you use in one shower session? Would using a silicone mini-muffin tray be a good size for one shower bars? Keep postin!! 🙂 Erica

The mini muffin pan is a great idea.

Would using a metal mini muffin pan work as well?
Jackie Ritz says
I think it would work adequately.

I love the sugar scrub recipe in cup cake pans.
Can I use just regular white sugar instead of the “good stuff”.
Trying to make this affordable for my family.
Jackie Ritz says
Yes, you can use white sugar as a substitute

Hello Jackie 🙂 I just stumbled upon your site and am loving it! I have been using doterra oils for a couple of years and am totally addicted! I look forward to trying your recipes, as I’m always looking for different ways to use my oils 😉 Thank you so much

Could I use coconut butter instead of coconut oil?
Illoura says
This is wonderful – I never wanted to mess with containers of ‘goo’, lol. I do wonder though, does the coconut oil build up in the drain after a while?
Jackie Ritz says
I don’t think its a huge problem. It is good to put boiling water down the drain occasionally, and rinse it out with some vinegar too.

Just made these and the look nothing like the photo. Mine feel like all sugar but the photo seems like they are more solid… Not suRe how though. I followed the post to the letter… Not sure what I did wrong.

I am loving this idea! The only sugar I have on hand is coconut. I tossed all of our “non paleo” sugars MONTHS ago, LOL. That being said… would you suggest using the coconut sugar with another type of sugar or not using it at all and sticking with the two in your main recipe? Thanks so much!
